Hoyta is a super snuggler who is keen to please!
She has great recall and is easy to train with treats or even just cuddles as she is super focused on her human. I have trained her to “wait” for attention, and “enough” when I just need to get some work done.
She is an inside dog that has been allowed on furniture.
She is happy to snuggle in bed most of the day but also keen on walks on the beach, car rides… anything that involves her human really.
She jumped my 1 meter fence once, but I just called her back and she’s never done it again – once she is aware of her territory she will not stray, not even when she is chasing rabbits!
She is well behaved when left home alone, eg she doesn’t destroy the furniture or howl or anything like that.
I am heartbroken that I need to rehome her. But her and my original dog have started to fight – bloody fights.
After exhausting other options, I’ve realised that she needs a new home – a home where she is the only dog.
She is very dominant and doesn’t have the best manners with other dogs. This hasn’t ever been an issue at the beach because she is not really interested in other dogs unless she is on her own territory.
However, my other dog is also dominant and thus the fighting, which was initially low key and seemed to peter out. But this has escalated to bloody fights and my dog has started resource guarding.
Hoyta is currently wearing a bandage on one leg for a small wound that required stitches. She has other minor puncture wounds that are close to healed up. She will have the bandaged checked and removed but there should not be any other medical costs. If there are I am happy to cover them with Otaki Vets.
For Hoyta’s protection, I am now having to keep them crated and separated at all times, and this is just too challenging for me especially in a 25sqm cabin. This is why this is an urgent rehome – this is a terrible situation for all of us really.
And Hoyta really deserves to have a home where she is the only dog so she can thrive.
