Male labrador X
Desexed, registered, microchipped
I’m looking for a new home for my dog Jack. He is a labrador/huntaway mix. I would love to keep him but he has medical issues that I can’t afford. I think he has some kind of environmental allergy or something, he scratches a lot and chews at his paws but it’s not a year round thing. His ears can get gunky and he can scratch them till they bleed when he gets really bad. I’ve tried to get help from the vet’s and they have helped to relieve symptoms but I can’t afford to get him properly tested for his allergy to get him properly treated and I can’t afford to relieve his symptoms in the long term either. I need to find him a home that can afford his medical bills if you think you might be able to, that would be great, if on the other hand you can’t please don’t inquire, I need him to get the help he needs.
Other than medical issues he is a lovely dog and companion. He mostly lazes about on my bed or follows me around the house when I’m moving about. He always lets me know when he needs to go to the toilet and will only mess if you ignore him telling you. He’s a quiet dog and I’ve only heard him bark a handful of times over the two years that I’ve had him. This was usually because he heard something he thought might be a threat outside.
He is very good with other animals and children. He can get a bit excited meeting new dogs and people but he’s gotten better about jumping when doing so. Every dog no matter the size is a friend to him and he will play if they want to play. With cats he isn’t interested and I’ve even known him to move away from them when they sit too close sometimes. I haven’t seen him chase any other types of animals, we have chickens and sheep on the property.
He needs to be an inside dog, before I got him two years ago he lived his life outside in the dust and dirt on a chain and I think that contributed to his medical issues and has given him trauma. Please never chain him.
His ideal home is one where he can live inside, a place that can afford his medical bills and give him lots of love and attention. A place where any animals are friendly and he can sleep on a nice soft bed. I would also love the occasional update on him and, if you can no longer care for him, the ability to take him back, or at least the knowledge of where he is going next. Ideally though I would love to give him to a forever home that can keep him happy and healthy until old age takes him.
If you think you might be a good fit for him please inquire.
