Name: Panda
Age / Breed: Approx. 4-5 years old, female Staffy/Pitbull cross
Personality & Highlights:
Panda is a sweet, loyal and smart girl who loves people and being part of a family. She enjoys cuddles, going on walks, and being given attention. She has a big heart and truly wants to do the right thing — when she feels safe.
What makes her special:
• She follows you around and loves being included.
• When calm and settled, she can be a gentle companion, loves a comfy spot to nap or relaxing with you.
• She has had consistent veterinary care, is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated (you can fill in exact dates).
• She thrives when given structure, a clear routine, and someone who understands her as an individual.
Needs / What potential adoptive home should know:
• Panda has shown difficulty living with another dominant dog (male Rottweiler Ziggy in your home). She has reacted out of jealousy or insecurity. Because of that, she would do best as the only dog in her home, or with a very calm, experienced dog (and careful introductions) under supervision.
• She needs an adopter who is experienced with strong-willed or reactive breeds, who can provide consistent boundaries, enrichment (mental + physical), and understands that her behaviour may take time and patience.
• A secure, medium to large yard is strongly preferred (to allow her safe space to decompress).
• Because she has had challenges, the right adopter will prioritise: ongoing training/behaviour support, likely continue some management tools (e.g., safe separation when unsupervised, safe exits/entries, structured socialisation) and will commit to helping her settle.
• She’s happiest when she has supervision, predictable routine and knows who her person is. A very busy lifestyle where she’s left alone long periods may not be ideal.
Ideal Home For Panda:
• A home where she is the only dog, unless the new adopter is certain they have a calm, compatible dog and understand how to manage introductions carefully.
• Someone/family who are home part of the day (or can give her shorter alone-time windows) so she doesn’t feel isolated or insecure.
• Someone who loves a strong dog with big energy but also switches to calm one-on-one time — walks, training, cuddles.
• Preferably with a secure fenced yard, and someone who will engage her in positive training/enrichment rather than just letting her “figure it out”.
• Someone open to consulting the prior behaviourist report (if any) and willing to continue supporting Panda’s ongoing growth.
Reason for Rehoming:
This was one of the toughest decisions to make. Panda has given us so much joy, but we’ve found that her reactivity/jealousy with our other dog (Ziggy) is escalating beyond what we feel we can manage long-term, and it isn’t fair to her or to Ziggy. We feel she deserves a home where her challenges are understood, and she can get the one-on-one attention and tailored home environment she needs.
