Roo is a bright, affectionate 6.5-month-old Whippet × Staffy cross with a huge capacity for connection, play, and learning. She is incredibly people-oriented, socially curious with other dogs, and has the kind of joyful personality that makes everyone she meets smile.
She’s currently in Auckland and looking for a home that can give her the space and lifestyle that matches her energy and intelligence.
About Roo:
Roo is a loving, social young dog who thrives on interaction. She forms strong bonds with her people and enjoys being involved in whatever is happening around her. She is playful, expressive, and very clever — the sort of dog who will blossom in the right environment.
She particularly enjoys:
• Being around people and other dogs
• Sniff walks and exploring
• Learning new things
• Cuddling once she settles
• Having space to move and play
She sleeps through the night, is crate trained, and can settle well when her environment supports it.
Why I’m rehoming Roo:
This decision has been incredibly difficult and not something I’ve taken lightly.
I adopted Roo recently with the intention of giving her a long-term home, but it has become clear that my CBD apartment environment simply isn’t the right setting for a young, high-energy dog like her.
Since bringing her home I have worked very hard to help her settle, including:
• Structured daily routines
• Professional training guidance
• Regular decompression sniff walks
• Crate training and rest cycles
• Calm engagement and enrichment
• Managing stimulation carefully in a small apartment
Despite this effort, Roo is struggling to regulate her energy in a small urban space. She is a young, socially driven dog who clearly thrives with more room, more activity, and ideally other dogs around.
My building manager has also started putting pressure on me about occasional noise when she becomes over-stimulated, which unfortunately means this environment isn’t sustainable for either of us.
The goal now is to find Roo the right home sooner rather than later, where she can thrive rather than be limited by my living situation.
Roo would likely do best in a home that has:
• A house rather than an apartment
• Space to run and explore
• An active owner or family
• Ideally another friendly dog
• Someone who enjoys training and engagement with their dog
She is still very much a puppy and will continue developing quickly with the right guidance.
The good stuff…
Roo is:
• Affectionate and people-loving
• Very intelligent and responsive
• Social and playful with other dogs
• Crate trained and sleeping through the night
• Curious, fun, and full of personality
• Vaccinated (all), desexed, microchipped
She has all the makings of an incredible companion — she just needs the right environment for her energy and temperament.
The aim:
My priority is finding Roo a stable, suitable long-term home where she can flourish.
If you think you might be a good match, please get in touch and tell me a bit about your home and lifestyle.
