We’re looking for a loving new home for our dog, Max.

Max is a 9-year-old neutered male with a gentle, easygoing nature and a slightly goofy personality. We think he is a ridgeback/labrador mix.
He’s at that lovely stage of life where things move at a slower pace—perfect if you’re after a companion to walk with you, rather than one that pulls you along.

He gets on well with other dogs and is comfortable around cats and poultry, making him a good fit for a range of households. He is also very tolerant of children and has a calm, patient nature around them, anyone really.

Max is not very demanding and happiest with the simple things: a short walk and his meal am and pm. He is also comfortable being left on his own during the day as long as he has his comfy bed. He enjoys having a cosy bed and likes to be close enough to hear the everyday sounds of home life going on around him. He is very obedient and responds to “commands”.
He does appreciate a good smooch now and then as well as a brush and a scratch. In return, you’ll get a very sweet, loyal companion.

Max does have seasonal (summer) allergies, so during the warmer months he benefits from regular showers to keep him comfortable. It’s a simple routine but something we’d like his new home to be happy to continue.

We’re based in Gisborne but are happy to help transport Max to the right home, as we travel to Auckland regularly.

Max does come with a few routines and instructions, which we’re happy to talk through to help him settle in. For the right home, we’re also open to discussing ongoing support.
