Meet Luna. A Much-Loved Blue British Shorthair Looking for Her Forever Home 💙

Luna is a much-loved family pet who was born in Wainuiomata and raised in Wellington. She is a beautiful Blue British Shorthair with the classic “blue” personality: loyal, gentle and quietly affectionate.

Like many British Shorthairs, Luna isn’t particularly fond of being picked up, but she loves being close to her people. She’ll happily sit beside you and follow you from room to room, always wanting to be part of whatever you’re doing. She even knows the word “bedtime” and will happily settle down and sleep through the night in your bedroom.

Luna was raised as an indoor cat but enjoys spending time outside, especially running around and rolling in the sunshine. She isn’t street-savvy, so a secure outdoor enclosure or catio alongside a comfortable indoor environment would be ideal for her.

She enjoys her own company and can be cautious around other animals, so a calm home where she can have her own space would suit her best. Luna is generally gentle and well-behaved, although she can become overstimulated if handled too much or picked up when she doesn’t want to be.

A little about Luna’s health and care

Luna has megacolon, a condition that affects bowel function, as well as two fused vertebrae in her spine. She requires medication twice daily to manage her megacolon and a daily anti-inflammatory to help with spinal pain. We are happy to discuss supporting the right family with her medication costs.

She sometimes struggles to groom herself fully but otherwise toilets either outdoors or in her litter tray. Her ongoing conditions mean she needs a family who understands her medical needs and is happy to maintain her medication routine and provide the care and patience she deserves.

Luna is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped, and she is currently living in Eden Terrace Auckland.

Why we’re looking for a new home

This is a very difficult decision for us, as Luna is a much-loved member of our family. However, since welcoming our first baby, we’ve found it increasingly challenging to give Luna the time, attention and care she deserves alongside our growing family’s needs.

Our greatest wish is to find Luna a loving, understanding home where she can feel safe, comfortable and cherished. Someone who appreciates her quiet affection, respects her independence and is committed to managing her health needs would be the perfect match.

Luna has so much love to give in her own gentle way, and we want to make sure her next home is one where she can truly thrive. 💙
