Sharing on behalf of a family member who is heartbreakingly needing to rehome their beloved dog due to significant health challenges of the owner.

Louie is a 5-year-old Shih Tzu / Poodle / Cavalier Spaniel cross who is incredibly loving, affectionate, gentle, and deeply bonded to his people.

He has been raised in a very quiet adult home here in Papamoa, and is used to having people around most of the day, so he would suit a calm household where someone is home often.

He absolutely thrives on routine and companionship.

Louie currently enjoys:
• a 30-minute walk each morning
• a 30-minute walk each evening
• cuddles, closeness, and being near his people

Important things to know:
• Louie has not been well socialised and is very unsure around new people initially
• he barks when visitors arrive but settles once he feels safe
• he is anxious around children and would need an adult-only home
• no other pets please
• he would suit a patient, calm owner who understands anxious dogs

Louie also has allergies and is currently:
• on Royal Canin hypoallergenic food
• receiving Cytopoint injections approximately every 6 weeks through the vet

Once he trusts you, he is one of the most loyal and affectionate little dogs imaginable.

This is an extremely difficult decision for the family, and finding the right long-term home is far more important than finding a quick home.
