Meet our dog Loulou!
She is a two year old border collie cross that we originally got last year after she was given up due to not being an affective farm dog for her previous owner (she was too busy sniffing as opposed to herding! We think she may have some hints of springer spaniel within her ‘cross’ title).
Lou is very friendly and tries to convince us into letting her on the couch often and LOVES tummy rubs. She gets along with kids and cats (we have two four year old boys and a cat for reference).
However, sometimes she gets excited and may jump up on you, but does listen to the command “down”. She can also sit, and wait – but does need more recall training. She is also happy to be in her crate with a blanket/toy (she sleeps in her crate at night).
While we like her very much – we do not have the financial means or time to dedicate to her that she deserves. She is desexed, microchipped, registered for 2026 and regularly wormed/flead.
She is a very active dog and loves to accompany you, play and go for runs/walks. She loves her toys and cannot be trusted with valuable things as she will chew them! We only buy her high strength silicone dog toys for that reason.
She isn’t able to tolerate fatty pork, beef or venison – so cured bones, raw hide, leftovers etc are a no go. We use raw carrots or her dog food!
She has been undergoing some irritation on her abdomen that (according to the vet) is most likely food related or due to the flora/fauna in our backyard that we can’t pinpoint. We have currently changed her to this food to see if it helps:
PURINA ONE® Adult Chicken & Rice Dry Dog Food. www.purina.co.nz/food/dog/purinaone-adult-chicken-rice-dog-food
The ideal candidate for her will be someone who owns their home/has a good sized yard to roam or is able to take her for a long daily walk. They will also preferably have experience with dogs and be willing to potentially pay for further treatment of her skin issues if not self resolved with her new diet/time away from our plants.
