I have a 4 year old male Staffy x Pitbull that regretfully needs to be rehomed. My partner and I have had him since 8 weeks old and we love him so much, but my partner and I are expecting our first baby and are moving into a bigger house which unfortunately doesn’t allow dogs. His name is Āio, he is microchipped, flea and wormed, vaccinated but not up to date, he is not desexed and not registered. We got him while living in Hamilton and just after getting him we went into lockdown he was not socialised properly due to this fact and has trouble warming up to people, but once you get to know him he is very loving (The key to his heart is food surprise surprise) He can be slightly aggressive towards animals that are smaller than him and also children. He was raised with one of his siblings and has been around other dogs previously but is always 50/50 with different dogs. He pulls occasionally when excited but is generally pretty good on and off lead. He can be very energetic at times but also one of the laziest animals I’ve ever met, he loves sleeping and snuggling in a lot of blankets. Āio is trained in Māori just basic commands E Noho-Sit, Takoto-Lay down, Takahuri-Roll Over, Tīkina-Fetch, Mihi-Paw and E Kai- Eat. Āio is a dog that has a bit of a sixth sense, ever since he was a puppy he’s been able to know when something is happening, he will nearly always misbehave when something is about to happen like going to the vet or if we are going on a trip without him. I’m worried that when we rehome him he will misbehave and I really just want someone who will care for him and love him like my partner and I do.
Please let me know if there’s anything you can do, thank you very much!
