Baxter is a lovely, typical GSP. He loves being amongst everything, whether it’s at the dog park, at the local pub/cafe, on a ferry, in a river or a fast paced run through the woods. He is great off lead running but still likes to explore, coming back to check where you are regularly. We have been doing lead and recall training which will need to continue.
He’s grown up with kids and is great around them.
He is great with other dogs but we have found that he won’t be suitable for a home with another dog, or will need careful management.; he resource guards with food and toys.
He doesn’t have anxiety when left alone but his favourite time is when he can squeeze between you on the couch or flop his whole body down on top of you. He has in recent times become an outside dog due to circumstances, so he is also use to/and comfortable sleeping outside in a secure and sheltered space.
Baxter doesn’t bark much, except for when new visitors approach the property. He isn’t too friendly in these situations, but if you are there, then he knows it’s okay and he’s fine. We have had training with Baxter to get use to strangers on his property and he has responded well.
He has a high prey drive which makes him unsuitable for unfenced properties or ones with cats, rabbits, chickens, sheep, etc within view. He hasn’t responded as well to this training, he likes to chase!
We want to find Baxter the best forever home, he gives so much love and deserves it 10-fold in return.
Baxter is healthy, up to date with vaccinations and desexed.
