Yes. Browsing, messaging and adopting through Pet Rescue NZ costs nothing. Some owners ask a small rehoming fee to help find a committed home, and it’s always shown on the listing.

How do I know a listing is genuine?

New listings are screened before they go live, and anything unusual is checked by a person. Always meet the pet in person before paying anything.

Can I meet the pet before deciding?

Of course. Arrange a meet and greet with the owner through our private messages. Most owners are happy to do a trial visit too.

Do I need to register my dog?

Yes. Dogs over three months old must be registered with your local council and microchipped.
