Winter was shaken by his mother at about 2 weeks old and suffered some brain damage. We initially thought it was quite significant and that he may not live very long. We adopted him to thinking we would give him a lovely life, for the short time he has. They initially thought he was deaf and blind, along with cognitive delay.

It appears he is not as impaired as once initially thought. While Winter does have some delays, he is still quite smart. He eats on his command word, and is learning to walk on the lead better. He is still mastering toilet training, but most of the time he gets it right.

Winter is a heading dog, he’s about 7 months old. He has had his shots and is currently had his latest worm and flea treatment.
He has the most beautiful nature. Very calm around kids, other dogs and other small animals, being intrigued more than anything. He does get very excited and flip flops everywhere but we are working on him being calmer.

He has been crate trained but spends his days roaming our yard. He hasn’t really gotten into anything too badly, not much chewing or digging as you’d expect in dog this age.

We didn’t really know what we were getting when we took on Winter but it has become clear he has a longer lifespan than we thought he would and more needs than we were prepared for on a longterm basis. He’s certainly not the deaf blind and simple wee pup we thought he was.

He’s quirky and happy and gentle and really needs a home where he can spend time with others.
