Questions
Who provides the food?
The owner. Leave enough food, treats, medication and supplies for the whole stay, plus a few days extra. The sitter brings their time and care.
Do sitters get paid?
That’s between you. Many people swap favours or sit for the love of animals; some ask for a small amount. Pet Rescue NZ doesn’t take payments or fees. Agree it before the sit, and never pay or ask for money before you’ve met.
Are sitters checked?
No. Pet Rescue NZ doesn’t vet, police-check or insure sitters or owners. Read reviews, meet in person first, ask for references, and trust your judgement. Pip checks posts and messages for scams.
What if something goes wrong?
Leave your vet’s details and an emergency contact. The sit is arranged between the owner and the sitter, and Pet Rescue NZ isn’t responsible for it. Check your own insurance before you go. Report anything unsafe or suspicious to support@petrescue.org.nz.
